Mirning Crescent sits within the leafy, bush‑setting suburb of Aranda, where large native eucalypts were retained when the area was first settled in 1967 and the streets are named after Aboriginal tribal groups. The residential fabric reflects the suburb’s early development, with homes positioned among the preserved trees and the curved, bell‑shaped Bandjalong Crescent forming the main spine nearby.

Transport links include ACTION bus 32 along Belconnen Way, a bicycle path on Bindubi Street and a pedestrian footbridge that connects to Bruce, while walking tracks lead over Black Mountain to the CSIRO and the Australian National University. Local amenities feature the recently re‑occupied Aranda shops with a café and outdoor seating, two primary schools, the larger Jamison Centre in neighbouring Macquarie, and nearby playing fields and the co‑located ambulance and fire‑rescue station.
