Pandanus Street lies in Fisher, a Canberra suburb of Weston Creek named after former Prime Minister and coal miner Andrew Fisher, and it follows the local tradition of naming streets after Australian mines and mining towns.

The street rests on the pale to dark‑grey dacitic tuff of the Laidlaw Volcanics, while the northern edge of the suburb is underlain by the red‑purple and green‑grey rhyodacite of the Deakin Volcanics, shaping the natural backdrop of the neighbourhood.
