Gungurra Crescent sits in the leafy, late‑1960s residential suburb of Rivett, where streets bear the names of Australian flora and the housing stock reflects the era’s suburban development, with many homes still standing after the 2003 bushfires. The street is flanked by extensive open spaces, including playing fields on the western side of the suburb and a network of neighbourhood parks and pedestrian parkland.

ACTION Route 64 buses link Gungurra Crescent to Chapman, Cooleman Court and Woden Town Centre, with taxis available as an alternative, and the Rivett local shopping centre on Rivett Place (off Bangalay Crescent) is a short walk away, offering a supermarket, bakery, café, newsagency and hairdresser along with a nearby preschool, the Reformed Church of Canberra and Burrangiri Respite Services for the elderly.
