Lomatia Place sits within Rivett, a residential suburb on the western edge of the Weston Creek district that was laid out in the late 1960s. Like all Rivett streets, it carries a name derived from Australian flora, giving the streetscape a distinctive botanical character.

Public transport is provided by ACTION’s Route 64, which runs through the area and links residents to Chapman, Cooleman Court and Woden Town Centre, while taxis offer additional access. A short walk brings shoppers to the Rivett local shopping centre on Rivett Place, which hosts a supermarket, newsagency, café, bakery and other services, and nearby open spaces include playing fields, neighbourhood parks and pedestrian parkland.
