Griver Place sits within Stirling’s residential grid, where each street honours a pioneer from Western Australia, giving the streetscape a distinctive historical theme that dates back to the suburb’s gazettal in 1970. The surrounding landscape rests on Deakin Volcanics‑derived red‑purple and green‑grey rhyodacite, with pockets of Laidlaw Volcanics tuff in the southern quarter, contributing to the area’s characteristic earth‑tone backdrop.

The former Weston Campus of Canberra College, now the Hedley Beare Centre for Teaching and Learning, provides a local hub for education and community activities. While the suburb’s layout integrates seamlessly into the wider Weston Creek district, its geological setting and the presence of this centre are key amenities for residents of Griver Place.
