Wanniassa, a southern Tuggeranong suburb of Canberra, was gazetted in 1974 and named after Thomas McQuoid’s 1835 pastoral property. Bounded by Athllon, Sulwood, Erindale Drives and Taverner Street, it borders Kambah, Greenway, Oxley, Monash, Gowrie and Fadden. The 2021 census recorded 7,885 residents, a median age of 39, and median incomes of $1,127 per person and $2,295 per household.
The suburb offers two shopping precincts – the Erindale Centre and a northern complex anchored by Coles – plus sport and recreation facilities such as the Active Leisure Centre, Wanniassa Enclosed Oval and Erindale tennis courts, and cultural venues including the Erindale Theatre and Library. A network of primary, secondary and college schools serves families, and ACTION bus routes R5 and 72‑77 connect Wanniassa to Civic, Woden and Tuggeranong Town Centre via Erindale Interchange.
