Novar Street runs north–south through the flat, grid‑planned western residential zone of Yarralumla, framed by the suburb’s wide, tree‑lined streets and a canopy of exotic plantings. It is bordered by a blend of original weatherboard, monocrete and brick dwellings together with newer detached houses, dual‑occupancy conversions and the 1950s medium‑density Minimbah Court units.

ACTION bus Route 57 travels along Novar Street, connecting Woden Interchange with the City Interchange, and a future Capital Metro light‑rail stop is proposed at the Novar‑Kent intersection on the suburb’s southern edge. At the corner of Novar and Bentham Streets the Yarralumla local shopping centre offers a supermarket, dry‑cleaners, chemist, restaurants and specialty shops, while nearby Weston Park and Yarralumla Bay provide waterfront recreation.
