Birrong sits 22 km south‑west of Sydney’s CBD in the City of Canterbury‑Bankstown. The 2021 census recorded 3,331 residents with a median age of 36 and a multicultural makeup, nearly half were born overseas, and Vietnamese, Arabic and Mandarin are common at home. The suburb offers six soccer/rugby fields, tennis courts, a large natural park, a bowls club, a swimming pool, the Birrong Leisure and Aquatic Centre, and a small Auburn Road strip with a bakery, cafés, an IGA (including bottle shop and butcher), a barber and a hair salon.
