Overview
Bodalla is a small South Coast town in Eurobodalla Shire, New South Wales, positioned on the Princes Highway with road links to Moruya, Narooma, Nerrigundah and Potato Point. At the 2021 Census the locality recorded 808 residents, a community where the median age is 53 and 8 % identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, reflecting a mature, close‑knit population. The Yuin people are recognised as the traditional owners, and the town’s name derives from their language.
The historic All Saints Church, designed by Edmund Blacket and completed in 1901, anchors the town’s heritage alongside the former Bodalla dairy complex, now remembered through the Big Cheese Visitors’ Centre on the northern fringe (closed 2007). Although the original horse tramway to the North Narooma Wharf ceased operation in the late 19th century, the highway continues to provide convenient access for commuters and tourists alike, supporting a lifestyle that blends connectivity with the town’s agricultural legacy.
