Bonnet Bay lies on the eastern bank of the Woronora River, 29 km south of Sydney’s CBD in the Sutherland Shire. The 1.5 km² suburb sets aside a quarter of its area for eight parks and the surrounding Burnum Burnum Reserve, offering walking trails, a boat ramp and Lakewood City Reserve. Built between 1969 and 1985, its streets, mostly named after U.S. presidents, provide a mix of family homes and rank among Sydney’s ten safest suburbs.

Access is via two main roads; the 968 bus links to Jannali, Miranda and Kareela, and Jannali and Como stations on Illawarra line give connections. The 2021 Census recorded 2,238 residents, median age 44, with 77.5 % born in Australia.
