Queen Street runs through the centre of Boorowa, a farming village set in a valley 340 km southwest of Sydney at about 490 m above sea level. The street forms the town’s main thoroughfare and was originally served by a branch railway opened in 1914; passenger trains ceased in 1980 and the line closed in 1987.

Today the street is a focal point for community life, hosting the annual agricultural show in March, a Picnic Race Meeting in May and the October “Running of the Sheep” during the Irish Woolfest, while the nearby Saltwater Hill provides a scenic backdrop.
