Overview

Drake is a small rural community set on the Bruxell Highway about 44 km east of Tenterfield and roughly 800 km north of Sydney, within the Tenterfield Shire of the New England region. At the 2016 Census the village recorded 345 residents, the majority born in Australia and speaking only English at home. The local economy centres on agriculture, timber and tourism, with easy access to hiking, fishing and fossicking in the surrounding countryside.
