Overview

Evans Head, on the traditional lands of the Bandjalang people, is a laid‑back coastal town of 2,843 residents (2016) that expands with tourists in school holidays. Nestled between Bundjalung and Broadwater National Parks, it offers the wide Airforce Beach for fishing, surfing and swimming. The town includes a holiday park with almost 600 sites, two supermarkets, butchers, cafés, an RSL club, the Illawong Hotel and a public library, while Evans River Community School serves local families.
