Gunnedah is a thriving town of 8,338 people (2021 census) set on the fertile Liverpool Plains of north‑central New South Wales. Surrounded by 80 % farmland, it produces cotton, coal, beef, lamb, pork and grain, and hosts AgQuip, the nation’s largest agricultural field day. Residents enjoy easy access to native wildlife – notably the state’s largest koala colony west of the Great Dividing Range – and a strong sporting culture anchored by the Gunnedah Bulldogs rugby league team and other local clubs. Education is well covered with three secondary schools, several primary schools and a New England Institute of TAFE campus.
