Mathoura is a small Riverina town in the Murray River Council area, home to 1,002 residents according to the 2021 Census. It sits on the historic Cobb Highway, providing direct road connections, and is served by the Deniliquin & Moama railway line whose station bears the town’s name. Within a kilometre lie the town cemetery and, a short drive away, Mathoura Lagoon and Duggans Lagoon, while footbridges over Gulpa Creek give easy access to a walking track that showcases the striking red‑coloured rock scarp of the local “Tilt”.
