Nestled on the ridge‑top of Wollemi National Park, Mountain Lagoon is a small village in the City of Hawkesbury, just north of Bilpin. The community is defined by its namesake lagoon, a rare geological feature created by the plateau’s tilt and uplift, which can be admired from Sams Way that circles the water. A stretch of this road has been planted with an avenue of exotic trees and shrubs, offering striking autumn and spring colour that contrasts with the surrounding native evergreen flora, and provides a pleasant setting for walking and outdoor recreation.
