Overview

Mountain Lagoon is a tranquil village tucked into the ridge‑top of Wollemi National Park, just north of Bilpin and within the City of Hawkesbury. Its most distinctive feature is the eponymous lagoon, formed by the geological tilting of the plateau and the uplift that redirected local drainage. Although the lagoon sits on private land, it is visible from Sams Way, a scenic road that loops around the water and showcases an avenue of exotic trees and shrubs whose autumn and spring colours contrast with the surrounding evergreen native flora.
