Myocum is a small town nestled in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, within the Byron Shire local government area. Located just 17 kilometres (11 mi) from the vibrant coastal centre of Byron Bay, it offers a peaceful, rural lifestyle while remaining close to boutique shops, cafés and beaches. The town sits on the traditional lands of the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung nation, adding cultural depth to the surrounding natural scenery.

The name Myocum may derive from the Yugambeh‑Bundjalung words “myloogun” (sunrise) or “mooloogin” (dawn), reflecting its serene setting. Historically, Myocum was served by an unattended platform on the Murwillumbah railway line, opened in February 1897 and closed in June 1974, hinting at past transport links that have since given way to road access for residents and visitors.
