Narrabri sits on the Namoi River 521 km northwest of Sydney at the junction of the Kamilaroi and Newell Highways. At the 2021 census the town had 5,499 residents, including a strong Aboriginal community (14.8%). It is the hub of a cotton‑growing region and also supports wheat, beef and lamb farms.
