Overview

O’Connell is a village recognised by the National Trust of Australia and lies 23 km north‑west of Oberon on O’Connell Road. The settlement sits on the historic Bathurst‑to‑Sydney route, later bypassed by the Great Western Highway, and the Fish River is crossed here on the Bathurst‑to‑Oberon road. At the 2006 census the village and surrounding area recorded 355 residents. Heritage features include the 1865 hotel, the Anglican Church of St Thomas, the former Catholic Church of St Francis of Assisi now restored as a dwelling, and the heritage‑listed Lindlegreen Barn.
