Tuncurry is a coastal town on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, 307 km north‑north‑east of Sydney, and lies directly beside its larger twin, Forster. A 1959 bridge over the Coolongolook River links the two towns, giving residents easy road access to Forster’s services while retaining a distinct seaside feel. The 2021 Census recorded 6,376 residents, an older‑skewing community that enjoys Nine Mile Beach for swimming, surfing and fishing, and the netted Tuncurry Rockpool at the entrance to Wallis Lake. Summer and school‑holiday periods dramatically swell the population, underscoring its reputation as a popular holiday spot.
