Adelaide River is a small but historic town in the Northern Territory, located where the Stuart Highway crosses the Adelaide River. At the 2021 census the community counted 317 residents, the second‑largest settlement in Coomalie Shire. It serves as a vital rest stop, with two fuel outlets, including a 24‑hour BP roadhouse with diner, accommodation at the Adelaide River Inn, a general store, post office, police and fire stations, and a Remote Health Clinic.
