Overview

Holtze lies 22 km southeast of Darwin’s CBD within the Municipality of Litchfield, set just north of Palmerston. The locality retains a largely rural character and was named after botanist Maurice William Holtze and his son Nicholas, the long‑time curators of Darwin’s Botanical Gardens. At the 2016 census the area recorded 1,810 residents, 44.4 % of whom identified as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
