Tennant Creek lies midway on the Stuart Highway, about 1,000 km south of Darwin and 500 km north of Alice Springs. The 2021 census recorded 3,080 residents, 55 % Aboriginal. The town offers a regional hospital, primary and high schools, a supermarket, banks, shops, bars, restaurants and accommodation. Nearby recreation includes Mary Ann Dam, Eldorado, Kathleen and Pilgrim Parks, and attractions such as the Devils Marbles, Battery Hill Mining Centre and Nyinkka Nyunyu Arts and Culture Centre.
