The Gardens, NT 0820
Overview
The Gardens is an inner‑suburban pocket of Darwin that sits on the traditional country and waterways of the Larrakia people. Its name comes from the nearby George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, home to one of the Territory’s largest palm collections, and the area once hosted experimental plantings of sugar cane and cotton. A modest residential enclave grew beside the gardens in the late‑1960s, later incorporated into the suburb when the Palmerston Gardens label was dropped in 1984.Streets in The Gardens
