Overview

Timber Creek sits on the banks of the Victoria River, about 600 km south of Darwin, and is the only substantial settlement on the Victoria Highway between the Western Australia border and Katherine. The town had 278 residents at the 2021 census and is served by the highway, an airstrip a few kilometres west, and a stop for interstate coach services on the Darwin‑to‑Broome route. Nearby Bradshaw Bridge links the community to the 8 700 km² Bradshaw Field Training Area, while the council office and the Ngaliwurru‑Wuli Aboriginal Corporation provide essential services and local employment.
