Bargara is a coastal suburb in the Bundaberg Region, 384 km north of Brisbane and just 13 km east of Bundaberg. At the 2021 census it recorded 8,883 residents. The town’s lifestyle centres on its foreshore‑front Esplanade, where modern holiday homes and units sit beside Bargara Beach, and on nearby Kelly s Beach, both popular for fishing, swimming and surfing. The Mon Repos turtle rookery and adjoining conservation park add a unique wildlife element, while the adjoining Nielson Park area offers a seamless beach‑side extension of the town.
Retail and services cluster along Bauer Street and See Street, with Bargara Central Shopping Centre providing Woolworths, Aldi and a range of eateries. Two major retirement resorts, Palm Lake and Carlyle Gardens, complement the mix of holiday accommodation, while a boat ramp, churches, a golf club and numerous parks support active living. The suburb is linked by Bargara Road, Bauer Street, The Esplanade and other main arteries, and Bus 4 runs daily to Bundaberg and Sugarland Shopping Centre.
