Sherwood is a leafy inner‑south suburb of Brisbane, situated about 8.3 km southwest of the CBD and bounded on the west by the Brisbane River. In the 2021 Census the locality recorded 6,082 residents. The area is characterised by low‑ and medium‑density homes surrounding a modest retail strip on Sherwood Road, and families benefit from the historic Sherwood State School and a variety of churches, including St Matthew’s Anglican and Sherwood Uniting. Green space is abundant, with the river‑front Sherwood Arboretum, Hives Park, Thomas Street Park and other local parks providing walking trails, scout and guide facilities, and a swimming club that uses the school pool.
