Overview

South Kolan is a quiet rural locality in the Bundaberg Region, set 23 km south‑west of the regional city of Bundaberg and 354 km north of Brisbane. The Burnett River weaves through the area, giving the suburb a subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and mild winters, ideal for the cattle farms, sugar‑cane fields and commercial fruit and vegetable production that define the district. At the 2021 census the community counted 1,258 residents, many of whom enjoy a relaxed country lifestyle while remaining close to larger centres.
