Overview

South Stradbroke is a tiny island locality at the northern edge of the Gold Coast, lying only metres from the Southport Spit and home to 142 residents according to the 2021 Census. The 21 km by 2.5 km landform is dominated by sand dunes, remnants of livistona rainforest and melaleuca wetlands, and it supports a distinctive wildlife mix including the endemic golden wallaby and hundreds of friendly wallabies that often mingle with campers.
