South Stradbroke Island sits at the northern edge of the Gold Coast, just metres from the Southport Spit and 40 minutes by boat from Surfers Paradise. Covering 31.3 km², the island’s sand dunes, livistona rainforest and melaleuca wetlands support a unique wildlife community, including hundreds of friendly wallabies that often wander among campers. In the 2021 census the locality recorded 142 residents, though numbers swell during holidays as visitors flock to its natural charm.
