The suburb features numerous parks and greenspaces, with ridges, hills and small creeks that create natural marshes and wetlands, especially near the northern and eastern parts of Sunnybank Hills.
Sunnybank Hills offers a public library located in the Shoppingtown complex, as well as several churches such as Southside International Church and Sunnybank Hills Uniting Church, many of which hold services in multiple languages.
In the 2021 census the suburb had 18,085 residents, with a multicultural profile – 32.3 % reported Chinese ancestry and a variety of languages are spoken, including Mandarin and Cantonese.
