Overview

Takura is a quiet rural locality in the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland, home to 553 residents according to the 2021 census. Jacobsons Hill rises 88 m and hosts a council water reservoir. The Takura Environmental Centre at the hill’s base provides three kilometres of walking trails through a 56.49‑ha reserve that supports about 190 plant species and 57 bird species, including the vulnerable Black‑breasted Button‑quail. The former one‑room Takura State School, listed on the Fraser Coast Local Heritage Register, remains a local landmark.
