Tarragindi is a southern Brisbane suburb nestled in a valley surrounded by ridges such as Wellers Hill and Tarragindi Hill. It is a residential area with a population of about 11,000 people and is bounded by the Southeast Freeway and Toohey Forest.
4 Bailey Avenue lies within roughly 0.3 km of Tarragindi Hill and about 1.2 km from both Toohey Mountain and Wellers Hill, providing easy access to several local walking tracks and green spaces.
Tarragindi was named after a Loyalty Islands native, Tarragindi Tasserone, who worked in the area in the late 1800s. During World War II the suburb hosted the Ekibin field hospital, now commemorated by the Ekibin Memorial Park.
Within 1.5 km you’ll find the Yeronga Fire Station, the Moorooka suburb, and the Lancaster Court Motel. The Greenslives busway station is also about 1.7 km away, offering public transport options.
According to the 2021 census, Tarragindi had a population of 11,035 with a median age of 37. Around 80 % of residents were born in Australia, and the majority (about 85 %) speak only English at home.
Tarragindi is part of the City of Brisbane and is represented on the Brisbane City Council by councillors from the Holland Park and Moorooka Wards.
The suburb’s limits are largely set by the Southeast Freeway and Toohey Forest to the east, Ekibin Road and the Tarragindi Reservoir to the west, and Prior Street and Mayfield Road to the south.
