Tarzali, QLD 4885
Overview
Tarzani is a small rural town on the Atherton Tableland with a 2021 census population of 431. The centre of the locality is residential, while the surrounding hills, rising to 837 m at Bartletts Hill, and native‑vegetation grazing land give the area a spacious, country‑lifestyle feel. Bounded by the Johnstone River to the east and Dirran Creek to the south‑east, the town enjoys a scenic setting that reflects its Aboriginal name meaning “water gum”.
Road transport is provided by the Millaa Millaa–Malanda Road, which enters from the north, passes through the heart of Tarzani and continues to the south‑west, linking the community with neighbouring towns such as Malanda, Millaa Millaa and Minbun. Although the historic Tarzani railway station closed in 1964, the town remains within easy reach of primary schools at Malanda and Millaa Millaa and the secondary campus at Malanda, giving families convenient educational options while retaining the peace of a rural housing mix.
Region type mix: Metro 100%.
