Tolga is a rural town on the Atherton Tableland with 3,177 residents (2021 Census). It is the hub of the region’s peanut industry and proudly displays the iconic Big Peanut landmark. The locality blends flat, crop‑rich land with nearby mountainous terrain, including Bones Knob (962 m) and the Tolga Scrub, one of the last Mabi rainforests on the tableland. Community life centres on the monthly Tolga Markets at the racecourse and the active Queensland Country Women’s Association hall on Main Street.

Housing ranges from the established town centre to a sizable new development north‑west of the settlement marketed as Tandara, Rangeview and Panorama Views. The Kennedy Highway runs through Tolga, providing easy road access, while the former railway line is now closed.
