The house is located on Dairy Creek Road at the southern edge of Waterford, near the straight‑line boundary that defines the suburb’s southern side and close to the eastern bank of the Logan River.
It is only a short walk away – roughly around 1 kilometre – from the Logan River, which forms the western side of the suburb.
Several parks are within a couple of kilometres, including Barber Court, High Road Park, L Storey Park, Nerang Street and Woodlands Boulevard Park. The Dairy Creek waterway is also about 0.9 km away.
Local bus services operate in parts of Waterford, and the nearest train station is in the neighbouring suburb of Bethania – a 5‑10 minute drive or a 40‑60 minute walk away.
Waterford was named by Irish settlers after the Irish city of Waterford because of a ford across the Logan River. The first town lots were sold in July 1866, and a railway line reached the town in 1885; passenger trains ran until 1961 and freight services continued until 1996.
According to the 2021 census, Waterford had 5,796 residents with a median age of 32 years. About 66 % were born in Australia, with notable communities from New Zealand, England, India, Afghanistan and the Philippines, and roughly 77 % spoke only English at home.
