Nestled on the Bunya Highway, Wooroolin lies 243 km north‑west of Brisbane and just 17 km north of Kingaroy. The 2021 census recorded 319 residents, giving the town a close‑knit rural feel framed by the seasonally flooded Wooroolin Wetland to the east, a palustrine swamp that adds a natural backdrop for walks and birdwatching. Although the Nanango railway line that once served Wooroolin closed in 2009, the former track now forms part of the Kingaroy‑Kilkivan Rail Trail, providing cyclists and walkers easy access to the surrounding countryside.
