According to the 2021 census, the suburb of Yeronga had 7,062 residents. The population has been steadily growing, up from 6,535 in 2016.
Several heritage‑listed sites are within walking distance, including Rhyndarra (≈0.4 km), John Mills’ residence (≈0.5 km) and the historic villa Astolat (≈0.5 km).
Yeronga railway station is about 1.1 km away, providing frequent services on the Beenleigh line. In addition, three bus routes (including Route 107) run through the suburb, linking to the Brisbane CBD, the University of Queensland and Indooroopilly.
The main commercial strip on Fairfield Road, opposite the railway station, offers a post office, cafés, bakeries, restaurants, a pharmacy and other retail services. A smaller neighbourhood strip on Hyde Road also hosts cafés, a restaurant and a gourmet pizza shop.
Goodwin Park, a multi‑sport venue, is around 0.8 km from the house. The Stephens Croquet Club in Yeronga Memorial Park and Leyshon Park (home to the Yeronga Devils Australian Football team) are also within a short distance.
Parts of Yeronga were inundated during the Brisbane floods of 2011, with low‑lying areas near the river most affected. Earlier flood events in 1974 also caused damage to properties adjacent to the river.
Yeronga is a southern riverside suburb bounded to the west and north by the Brisbane River and to the south‑east by Ipswich Road. The area includes a substantial amount of parkland and open space along the river.
