Hyde Road runs along the north side of Yeronga’s historic river‑front, where mid‑20th century light‑industrial sites, including the former Taubmans paint works and a Sunbeam appliance factory at the corner of Cansdale Street, have been shut down and are now the focus of a planning study aimed at residential redevelopment, giving the street a mix of vacant industrial lots and emerging housing projects. The streetscape is further punctuated by a small neighbourhood shopping strip that offers a cafe, restaurant, gourmet pizza outlet, beauty salon and hairdresser.

The road lies just under a kilometre from Yeronga railway station on the Beenleigh line, linking residents to the Brisbane CBD and beyond, while the suburb’s regular bus services provide additional connections to the city, the University of Queensland and Indooroopilly. During the 2011 floods Hyde Road was blocked, underscoring its role as a key access point for the western part of the suburb.
