Bay of Shoals sits on the north coast of Kangaroo Island, about 121 km south‑west of Adelaide and only 7 km north of the municipal centre of Kingscote. Officially named in 2002, the locality stretches along the western shoreline of the eponymous bay, with most of its land devoted to agriculture and a narrow coastal strip set aside for conservation to protect natural features.
