Blair Athol is served by the G10 bus line and several other routes (221, 222, 224, 225, 226, 228, 229, G10A, G10B) that travel along Main North Road. The Kilburn railway station, a few hundred metres from Prospect Road, provides train access to the city.

Blair Athol is a rectangular suburb bordered by Grand Junction Road to the north, Angwin Avenue to the south, Prospect Road to the west and Main North Road to the east. Its longest and principal street is Florence Avenue.
The area began as a private subdivision of section 357 in the Hundred of Yatala and was named after a local stud farm. The suburb name was formalised in 1944, and in 2000 the portion south of Angwin Avenue was annexed by the neighbouring suburb of Prospect.
Blair Athlog is administered by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, which has been the council for the area since 1996.
In addition to the G10, the suburb is serviced by routes 221, 222, 224, 225, 226, 228, 229 and the variations G10A and G10B, all connecting to Adelaide and various northern suburbs via Main North Road.
