Gillman lies on Adelaide’s north‑western edge in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, part of the federal Division of Hindmarsh and the state seat of Port Adelaide. Once home to the Dry Creek–Port Adelaide railway yards and the Rosewater Loop, today it is served by the main line over Mary MacKillop Bridge, linking the suburb directly to the Port River and surrounding industrial precincts.
