Overview

Kimba is a rural service town perched on the Eyre Highway at the top of the Eyre Peninsula, marked by an 8‑metre “Big Galah” that greets travellers midway between Australia’s east and west coasts. The town centre is supported by several nearby parks – Jubilee, Allinga, Bindana and Karunda – and by the District Council of Kimba, a weather station and the Roora Reservoir. Education is provided by Kimba Area School, which accommodates around 170 students from reception to year 12, while cultural life is highlighted by an annual art prize and a striking 30‑metre silo mural.
