Located about 10 kilometres south‑west of Adelaide’s centre, Marion began as a rural village on the Sturt River in 1838 and has grown into a leafy suburb with a distinctive housing mix. The original “austerity” homes, simple three‑ and four‑bedroom dwellings on quarter‑acre blocks built for the South Australian Housing Trust, still line many streets, while newer infill projects are adding two‑ and three‑unit residences where larger lots once stood, offering a blend of established and contemporary living.
