Overview

Middle River sits on Kangaroo Island’s north‑coast, overlooking Investigator Strait and lying about 162 km south‑west of Adelaide. The locality’s boundaries were formalised in 2002 around the long‑established name, and the area is dominated by agricultural land, with the coastline and the southern fringe set aside for conservation and to protect the drainage basin that feeds the Middle River Reservoir.
