Middleton sits on the eastern end of the Fleurieu Peninsula’s south coast, nestled between Port Elliot and Goolwa. The town is a popular holiday and tourist spot, famed for its surf beach where southern right whales calve and mate from June to October, and where Australian sea lions often rest on the shore. A blend of permanent residences, numerous holiday homes and a caravan park give the community a relaxed, seasonal vibe. The 2016 census recorded 1,156 residents.
