Mundoora sits 16 km inland from the coastal town of Port Broughton, a setting that has long offered a quiet, country‑style lifestyle. Its early connection to the sea was provided by the horse‑drawn Port Broughton tramway, launched around 1876. Locally nicknamed “The Pie Cart” and famously described as “a kind of second‑hand coffin drawn by one horse,” the tram remained in service into the 1920s before being preserved in the Railways Museum and the line subsequently dismantled, leaving a subtle but proud historic footprint in the settlement.
