Nairne is a small township nestled in the Adelaide Hills, just 7 km from Mount Barker and 5 km from Littlehampton. At the 2021 Census the town recorded 5,082 residents. The settlement grew around the historic Princes Highway, which was rerouted through Nairne in the late 1920s before becoming the Old Prince’s Highway after the South Eastern Freeway opened, and it retains its own railway station a short walk from the centre.

The main street offers a mix of local shops, a supermarket, post office and a church, while Nairne Primary School serves families nearby. Former industrial sites now host Howard’s Vineyard, Lot 100’s gin, brewery and winery operations, and Green Valley Strawberries provides a seasonal café and farm‑gate sales. Small parks such as Mick Murphy, Cockburn Street and Jeffery Street give residents easy access to green space and community recreation.
