Richmond is an inner‑suburb of Adelaide set on Kaurna land within the City of West Torrens. The suburb is primarily residential, but modest commercial and industrial strips line Richmond Road and South Road, giving locals easy access to shopping and dining. Its most prominent green space is the 16,000‑capacity City Mazda Stadium (Richmond Oval) on Milner Road, home of the West Adelaide Football Club since 1958, while the Westside Bikeway along Deacon Avenue offers a popular walking and cycling corridor. The former Apollo Stadium once added a cultural hub to the area.
Richmond is well‑connected by major thoroughfares – South Road, Marion Road and Sir Donald Bradman Drive – and by Adelaide Metro bus routes 100, 101, 135, 167/168, 548 and J7. Although there is no train station within the suburb, the Belair, Seaford and Tonsley lines run nearby, with Mile End and Adelaide Showground stations a short distance away. Post‑war development and the addition of new dwellings have created a varied housing mix that reflects the suburb’s long‑standing evolution.
